Mexico City (lmb.com.mx) March 5 .- The Mexican Baseball League (LMB) and Major League Baseball (MLB) report that they have made, for the first time in their history, an agreement for the transfer of players from both leagues.

Javier Salinas, CEO of the LMB, said: «With this agreement, the Mexican Baseball League reaffirms its commitment to the training, development and export of Mexican players. It also strengthens the historical ties of affiliation with Major League Baseball. »

The agreement ensures the transparency of all transfers between the 30 MLB organizations and the 16 clubs of the LMB, as well as opens up new business opportunities and experiences for the benefit of the fans.

Under the terms of the new agreement it is stipulated that all players with an LMB contract will be eligible to sign with any MLB club, once they qualify as a «Professional Alien» under the MLB and MLBPA criteria (minimum age of 25 years). and / or six years or more as a professional player). The LMB may also release players who have not yet reached this category to sign with MLB clubs.

When an MLB club signs an LMB player, it must pay the LMB club a fee of 15% of the total value of the contract, if it is in the Major Leagues, or 35% of the signature bonus, if it is a contract. of Minor Leagues.

This agreement has been approved by the Major League Players Association (MLBPA) and is in addition to the previous agreements that MLB has signed with leagues such as NPB (Japan), KBO (South Korea), CPBL (Taiwan) and FCB ( Cuba).

The Mexican Baseball League has established itself as the largest professional talent pool in Mexico and is positioned on the international stage as the only league in Latin America to offer a high level show for six months of the year through its 16 professional teams .

In this way, all organizations of the LMB reaffirm their commitment to continue and increase their investment in national talent.

In the near future, the circuit will announce its new plans for development and scouting in the national territory.
